Dr. Mariya: Integrative Trauma & KAP Psychologist in Florida

Trauma psychologist for people who have already done the work and are ready to go deeper.

I am Dr. Mariya, a trauma psychologist for people who look put together on the outside but feel exhausted, lonely, over-responsible, or quietly confused underneath.

The work I offer is rare - Integration. Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Emotion-Focused Therapy, attachment repair, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, integrated inside one original clinical framework. Few therapists hold all of this in one room. I built my practice this way because complex trauma asks for all of it.

I work with adults of all genders who are navigating the long-term effects of childhood emotional neglect, complex trauma and PTSD, overfunctioning, relationship patterns, and nervous system stress. People who are tired of surviving by pushing through, needing less, and holding everything together alone.

Therapy with me is a place to understand those patterns with more compassion, reconnect with your body through somatic awareness, and move toward greater self-trust.

I didn’t choose this work from a textbook.

Dr. Mariya's story

I grew up in an environment that had a lot of chaos in it. From very early on I learned what it meant to navigate life without enough guidance. Without enough safety. Without a map.

I watched what that does to a person. How the nervous system adapts. How you learn to handle everything yourself. How you become so good at functioning that nobody, including you, can see what it is actually costing.

I went on to become a licensed clinical psychologist. I specialized in trauma, emotional neglect, and somatic awareness, not just because I studied it, but because I had seen that journey from the inside.

What I know, both personally and professionally, is that the patterns that kept you safe once do not have to define you forever. The nervous system that learned to survive can also learn what it feels like to finally feel safe.

That is what this work is about. And that is why I do it.

Professional Journey

Based in Fort Lauderdale, I am a licensed clinical psychologist offering telehealth support across Florida and more than 30+ states via PsyPact.

During my decade of practice, I have been consistently drawn to working with individuals who navigate the world with external success and capability while carrying internal exhaustion, shame, or a deep sense of emotional loneliness. This focus became the heart of my work and the foundation of The Survival Map—my original clinical framework that maps the journey from childhood emotional neglect through survival adaptations toward true embodiment.

My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, and attachment theory. Together, we work to make sense of the patterns that once protected you, helping you move from survival into a life of greater clarity, steadiness, and connection.

How I Work

My approach is warm, trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in somatic awareness.

I do not only look at symptoms. I look at what those symptoms mean, what they protect, and what your body may be trying to communicate. Healing does not happen through insight alone. With everything available to us now, just knowing something is not enough. We need to feel it. We need to change the emotional experience, not just the understanding of it.

In our work together I help you slow down and understand how trauma and emotional neglect shaped your inner world, how overfunctioning and self-abandonment became protective, how your body responds in relationships, how shame and anxiety and confusion often make complete sense in context, and how to begin rebuilding self-trust in a more embodied way.

Therapy with me is not about becoming someone else. It is about understanding why you adapted the way you did, what your body has been carrying, and how to begin relating to yourself with more honesty, steadiness, and care.

Clinical Approach and Trainings

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Working with the parts of you that developed as protection, understanding what each part was trying to do and helping them feel safe enough to step back.

Somatic Experiencing

Trauma lives in the body. Working somatically means helping your nervous system process what thinking alone cannot reach.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Working with emotion as information not something to manage or suppress but something to understand and learn to stay with.

Understanding how early relationships shaped the way you connect, protect yourself, and relate to others today.

Attachment Theory

What We Work On Together

Trauma and Complex PTSD

Including the long-term effects of emotional neglect, relational wounds, inconsistency, and survival adaptations.

Overfunctioning and Burnout

For people who carry too much, stay useful, and push through at the expense of their body and emotional needs.

Nervous System Dysregulation

Including exhaustion, shutdown, overthinking, irritability, tension, difficulty resting, and body-based signs that something has been off for a long time.

Self-Trust and Embodiment

For people who want to reconnect with their body, trust their instincts, and move from survival into a more grounded life.

Childhood Emotional Neglect

Especially when nothing looked obviously wrong from the outside but you still grew up feeling emotionally alone and without enough guidance.

Relationships and Attachment

Including mixed signals, self-doubt, fear of being too much, relationship anxiety, and difficulty receiving steady love.

Shame and Self-Abandonment

Especially when shame forms around needs, emotions, past life stages, or the patterns that once helped you survive.

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

For people who feel stuck despite years of therapy and are ready to explore a deeper level of healing.
